Extra Energy ceases trading - What do to next….

Extra Energy, an energy supplier with about 108,000 domestic customers, has ceased trading. Don't worry though, if you are an Extra Energy customer, your supply will continue as normal. The outstanding credit balances of domestic customers will also be protected. If you are an Extra Energy customer and switched via Moneyexpert you can call us on 0800 011 1395  for advice. If you applied to switch to Extra Energy recently and the switch has not been confirmed, one of our Moneyexpert Energy Advisors will be in contact, but in the mean time please don't hesitate to call us on the same number and we'll answer any questions you might have.

Here's what Ofgem have to say:

Philippa Pickford, Ofgem’s interim director for future retail markets:

“If you are an Extra Energy customer, under our safety net, we will make sure your energy supplies are secure. We will also ensure that domestic customers’ credit balances are protected.

“Ofgem will now choose a new supplier and ensure you get the best deal possible. Whilst we’re doing this our advice is to ‘sit tight’ and don’t switch. You can continue to rely on your energy supply as normal. We will update you when we have chosen a new supplier who will then get in touch about your new tariff.”
