Porsche has announced that it is to launch an “everyman” model that will fit below the Cayman S two-seater, retailing at £36,220.
The price will also include Porsche Driving Experience training when the car goes on sale at the end of July.
Called the Cayman, the new model’s 2.7-litre flat-six 245bhp engine loses 50bhp compared to the Cayman S but is still no slouch.
Porsche says that it will cover 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds and on to 160mph with peak torque of 201lb-per-foot between 4,600 and 6,000rpm.
It will also return a respectable 30.4mpg. A five gear manual will be the default although a six-speed will be an option alongside 10mm-lowering active suspension.
