Car insurance provider in rules of the road drive

Car insurance provider Churchill is offering to give a discount to drivers who take the Pass Plus test, it has announced.

The move came in the wake of research by the car insurance provider that found 42 per cent of drivers who do not drive every day have diminished motoring skills.

One in ten drivers did not drive for at least two years after originally passing their test and getting their license, the survey discovered.

Frances Browning, spokesperson for Churchill Car Insurance, said it can be “daunting” for motorists to get back behind the wheel after a break from driving.

“Drivers need to be able to handle a range of different road and traffic situations, which only regular practice can help with,” she added.

Some 47 per cent of the drivers surveyed by Churchill admitted they were uncomfortable driving on busy roads.

The Pass Plus course is designed by the Driving Standards Agency to help motorists build on their existing skills base.
