Car insurance launches new deal

Car insurance provider Direct Line is offering a new product for motorists, a feature of which is 52 days of free cover.

The firm is also offering a no claims discount of 65 per cent.

It noted that the new year special offer also involves a 12 months for the price of nine deal on home insurance.

The car insurance offer is set to run up until March 31st, the company stated, with the quotes being valid for up to 90 days and only available for existing customers.

An option exists to pay by direct debit in 12 monthly instalments, or the whole annual premium upfront.

The offer comes at a time of the year when a large proportion of motoring claims are made, according to figures from Co-operative Insurance.

It stated earlier this week that January and February account for 19 per cent of instances where people have to fall back on their car or home insurance, a situation it attributed to a large number of cold weather-related incidents.
