Motorists advised to take care

Motorists have been warned to be extra vigilant when driving at the moment due to recent weather conditions.

Following a serious collision on the A12, the Suffolk Evening Star reports that state of the roads is unpredictable.

Two motorbikes were involved after one rider lost control of his bike and the other took action to avoid it.

“The roads are still quite damp in places at the moment and they can get slippery because of the grit that has been put down,” warned a police spokesperson. “We would encourage people to take extra care.”

Churchill car insurance claims that during winter months there is a 15 per cent rise in car accidents.

The firm attributes the increase to weather conditions which reduce driver’s visibility such as fog, mist and floods.

Motorists were advised to frequently perform checks on tyres, lights, wipers, brakes and anti-freeze levels.

By reducing the risk of an accident, drivers are taking action to keep their car insurance premiums low.
