New information released by Citizens Advice has revealed that more than half of the Big Six energy providers have seen a rise the amount of complaints that they received at the beginning of 2015.
The companies at fault were SSE, EDF, British Gas and npower, with all of them seeing an increase in complaints from the last quarter of 2014 and the first quarter of 2015.
Scottish Power was the company that received the most complaints overall, although they did see a slight decrease in numbers as they entered 2015.
SSE was the company that received the fewest number of complaints, according to Citizens Advice.
Gillian Guy of Citizens Advice stated:
“The majority of complaints from customers are about their bills, from large back bills to incorrect bills, or even no bill at all.”
“With billing a basic part of the service energy firms provide, it should be the simplest thing to get right.”
The energy companies in the UK have stated that they are trying hard to reduce the number of complaints that they receive each year.
npower and Scottish Power have both been asked to supply energy at no cost to many of their customers after they did not succeed in addressing complaints made to the Energy Ombudsman within the required time period.
