AmEx signs up BMW for credit cards

American Express has signed a deal to launch credit cards branded by BMW and its sister marque Mini.

As well as no-annual fee, fraud protection and a variable best rate currently at 9.9 per cent, the cards will offer a variety of themed rewards and prizes.

Around 50 prizes angled towards enthusiasts will be up for grabs every month, such as VIP Grand Prix trips and a chance to drive the new BMW 3-Series Coupe.

Smaller prizes include collectibles such as Mini/BMW branded watches, t-shirts, wallets and luggage.

“The Mini and BMW credit cards from American Express put Card members in the driving seat ñ quite literally,”†said Kate Harris of American Express.

“The customised rewards schemes, which offer extra entries for spending on petrol for example, mean these are the Cards of choice for those who feel a connection to Mini and BMW.”

“BMW and Mini customers are used to high levels of performance and customer service,” added Keith Dye of BMW.

“We chose American Express as we wanted a partner with a reputation for providing those same levels of service. From product trials in the UK we believe that the Cards will be an attractive proposition to people loyal to the BMW and Mini brands.”
