Travel insurance for older people "makes sense"

28 November 2007

Travel insurance policies for people aged up to 79 have been welcomed by Alliance & Leicester.

Spokesperson for the firm Steve Gracey said: "If you are dedicating a particular service or product to this age group then going beyond 60 or 65 makes sense.

"It is something the older generation will make great use of."

He explained that the introduction of policies for older travelers will "provide a real benefit", following research by the company that revealed 92 per cent of travel cover policies impose an upper age limit.

According to over 50s insurance provider Saga, for one-third of older travelers adventure was rated an important feature of their trip.

More than half of over 50s plan to take long-haul trips and travel more regularly, claims Alliance & Leicester. The majority also rated travelling as more important than spending time with their loved ones.
