Following BT’s announcement that they are to increase landline prices, TalkTalk have raised their line rental and call charges, too. Compare home phone deals now to save. The second of price rises this year from TalkTalk, includes a 5% increase in line rentals from £11.49 to £12.04 per month to come into effect from October 2010.
“Where BT goes, competitors normally follow,” said uSwitch.com communications expert Ernest Doku.
“As more people turn to mobile phones to stay in touch, home phone operators are looking for ways to maintain their income. It is more important than ever for customers to shop around and find a home phone tariff that suits them and will keep costs down.”
BT customers will be seeing an increase in their monthly line rentals in October by 50p with up to a 10% price increase on landline phone calls. Following this announcement, BT went on to proclaim that they had received better than expected results in the last year with a 17% rise in pre-tax profits.
“It was thought that BT would not perform as well this quarter but these results are better than some expected,” commented The Share Centre’s investment adviser Nick Raynor.
