02/02/2012

Purchase credit cards can be a great alternative to a traditional credit card. They offer 0% on purchases for a fixed period of time, saving you money.

There are all kinds of purchase credit cards available on the market, which can make picking the right one a bit of a challenge.

The thing to keep in mind is what you want from a credit card, and get one that is most suitable for your needs. So, what are the best purchase credit cards available at the moment?

Nationwide Select Credit Card

This credit card, from Nationwide Building Society, is one of the best on the market. It offers one of the longest periods for 0% on purchases, with 18 months.

There is also 0% on balance transfers for 17 months, unlimited cashback of 0.5% on all sterling purchases, and unlimited commission-free purchases while abroad.

The Select Credit Card also offers a representative 12.9% APR. To qualify for this Nationwide card you need to be paying in £750 or more each month, and you must complete an account transfer from a non-Nationwide account.

Halifax All In One MasterCard

Another good value purchase credit card is this All in One MasterCard from Halifax. While the 0% purchase period is a little shorter than Nationwide’s at 15 months, there are a range of deals and discounts available when you use the card.
The All in One MasterCard offers customers a representative 17.9% APR variable, and 0% on balance transfers for 15 months. As well as this, the card can be used at more than 30 million locations worldwide.

Tesco Clubcard Credit Card

If you regularly shop at Tesco, then this could be the credit card for you. As well as 0% on purchases for 15 months and 0% on balance transfers for nine months, you can also earn Clubcard points by using the card.

So, you can earn one Clubcard point for every £4 you spend on the card anywhere in the world, as well as earning additional points when using the card in-store.
