Housing market 'will bounce back' in 2009
29/12/2008
In mortgages news, it has been predicted that the New Year will see improvements in property sales in some areas of the country.
National Association of Estate Agents chief executive Peter Bolton King has stated that a recovery in the housing market is likely to be brought about in 2009.
Some estate agents are experiencing a rise in enquiries as borrowers of homeowner loans are realising they may be able to get a "bargain" in the current climate, he noted.
And he said that the "bounce back could be as dramatic as the fall" for the property sector, adding: "It is clear that parts of the market are perhaps beginning to bottom out ... some people are beginning to cotton on to this."
However, Mr Bolton King claimed that lenders must make more mortgages available to buyers in order to aid the recovery.
An improvement in the housing market was also recently predicted by Winkworth estate agency.
