AA Insurance has revealed some humorous examples of stories that car insurance customers told when making a claim. One instance of a motorist being struck by a flying Christmas tree was included in the car insurance provider's light-hearted compilation of tales that "brought a smile" to the faces of its staff. Another story revealed how Miss Pownall, a nurse, saw a magpie fly in front of her vehicle, causing her to remember the saying "one for sorrow, two for joy". While looking out for the second magpie, she crashed into the car in front of her. The firm also told the story of Mr Carlton, who claimed that a sheep jumped from a bypass onto his bonnet as he was driving home from the pub. While the stories are supposed to be funny, the insurer stated that they underline the significance of car insurance policies. "It doesn't matter how bizarre the incident, you may be sure we've heard it all before," said director Simon Douglas. Meanwhile, Co-Operative Insurance has launched a road safety campaign with the help of Brake.
