MoneyExpert.com - Brits encouraged to 'get smart and savvy' with personal finance - 23/01/2008

"Don't be complacent" is the advice is given by financial expert and Channel 4 presenter Cesarina Holm-Kander.

Ms Holm-Kander is currently promoting the free event Your Money Matters Show, which is to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of February at the Excel Centre in London.

The financial expert warned that although there is immense speculation over a further cut in interest rates, the monetary policy committee will face a tough decision considering current inflation rates.

She said that even if a cut does occur, people cannot afford to be complacent as there are always better deals on financial products.

"A lot of people are scared about personal finance and there's absolutely no reason to be," she added. "Just get smart, get savvy, get informed and get down to the Excel Centre.

According to research by Your Money Matters and Tickbox, 40 per cent of Brits think interest rates will rise and one-third believes property prices will crash.
