A new car insurance product has been launched by Newcastle Building Society.

The lender stated that the service will be added to its current portfolio of insurance products, which include travel insurance, life assurance, building and contents cover, mortgage payment protection insurance and buy-to-let insurance.

Customers can benefit from the add-on services the product guarantees, such as a claims helpline and optional protected no claims discount, the building society claimed.

Lending and operations executive of Newcastle Building Society Steven Marks said he was "delighted" to announced the motor insurance service.

"While there is never an ideal time to make a claim, by taking out motor insurance through Newcastle Building Society, customers are given the piece of mind that they can get in touch with our helpline 365 days a year," he said.

Recent research from swiftcover.com revealed that many drives are confused by what incidents their car insurance policy does and does not cover.
